Not sure what to give a runner? Give them a heart to run.

Give them a run made for them: a heart-shaped route from their front door or their favourite park, with their name on it. They follow it on their watch or phone, record their run, and share the heart on Strava. Preview it free; €14 once gets you the GPX and a poster to print and give them.

More: How to give a personalised running route

A running gift made for them

A run, made personal

Give them something to do: a heart-shaped route through streets that mean something to them, dedicated with their first name.

From a place they know

Choose their home, their favourite park or another starting address. See the route and its actual distance before paying.

Something to unwrap

Print their heart poster for a card or a frame, and give them the GPX to follow. The gift is delivered digitally to your inbox.

How to give it

  1. Make it theirs: Choose where their route starts, pick a 3, 5, 7 or 10 km target and add their first name. Preview the heart for free.
  2. Keep their heart: Pay €14 once for the GPX and printable poster. Most arrive after payment; hearts that need a manual check arrive within 24 hours.
  3. Give the gift: Print the poster and forward the GPX, or help them load it on their watch or phone. Allow two days if the gift is for a specific date.
  4. They run their heart: They follow the route and record their outing. The heart appears on their activity map, and they choose the title when sharing it on Strava.

A good gift if

  • they run or walk with a GPS watch or a phone;
  • they post their runs on Strava or another app;
  • you want a present about them, not about kit.

Not the right gift if

  • you need a physical parcel delivered: this is a GPX file and a poster to print;
  • they never use a GPS watch or a phone to follow a route;
  • you need it today and the preview requires a manual check.

A gift for a runner who has everything

You know they love running. You may not know their shoe size, favourite kit or next race. Give them a run made for them: a heart-shaped route from a place they know, with their first name in the GPX. They get an outing to look forward to and a poster you can put in a card.

A running route gift they run, not a print of a run they did

Most running map gifts print a route the runner has already completed. You upload their GPX file or Strava activity, or buy a gift card so they can choose one of their own runs. That celebrates a run in the past. CityHeart works the other way round: it draws a new heart-shaped route from an address you choose, for them to run next.

If they have a race they are proud of, a print of that run is a lovely present. If you want to give them something to do, give them a heart to run.

A personalised running gift, from their own street

Choose their home, a favourite park or another address that matters to them. Select a distance they normally enjoy, then inspect the free preview. The streets determine the final shape and distance, so use the actual route shown before deciding to buy.

This is a new route for them to follow. You do not need a past race, their old GPX file or access to their Strava account. The personalised GPX contains the dedication as its route name; how that name is displayed depends on their device or app.

  • A starting address you choose
  • Their first name, if you want a dedication
  • A 3, 5, 7 or 10 km target, approximately 1.9, 3.1, 4.3 or 6.2 miles

What is in the GPX and the poster

The files arrive in your inbox. Nothing is printed or posted by CityHeart.

  • The GPX: their heart as a GPS track, named after them (for example "Heart for Sam"), starting and finishing at the address you chose.
  • The poster: a PNG image of their heart with their name, the city and the distance, 1240 × 1754 pixels in A4 proportions, to print at home or at a print shop.
  • A heart checked by hand may be adjusted on a few streets before it is sent, so its final distance can differ slightly from the preview.

What you give them for €14

The custom gift includes the GPX of their heart route and a printable poster, delivered digitally to your inbox. Print the poster for a card or frame and forward the GPX to them. There is no physical parcel, frame or subscription included.

Most routes are delivered after payment. If the heart needs a manual check, delivery is within 24 hours. Because nothing is posted, there is no postal cut-off before Christmas; allow two days only in case the heart needs that check. Your payment is in euros; any currency conversion depends on your payment provider.

How they run their gift

They import the GPX into a compatible watch or navigation app and follow the line. Garmin, Coros, Suunto and Polar watches load it through their own apps when the watch supports route navigation; on Garmin, start with Garmin Connect. Apple Watch needs a GPX navigation app such as WorkOutDoors, and on a phone any navigation app that imports GPX files works. Third-party app charges are separate.

They record the actual run or walk, then upload that activity to Strava to see the heart on the map. They choose the activity title themselves. A beginner can choose a shorter target or walk the route; a marathon runner can enjoy it as a separate easy outing. The final distance and local access should be checked before setting off.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you get a runner who has everything?
Give them a personalised heart-shaped route to run. Choose a starting address that matters to them, add their name, and preview the shape for free. The GPX and printable poster cost €14 once.
How much does a personalised heart route gift cost?
The preview is free. A custom heart from your chosen address costs €14 once and includes the dedicated GPX and a printable poster. Ready-made routes from fixed gallery locations cost €7.99. Neither option has a subscription.
How do I give the route to them?
The GPX and poster arrive in your inbox. Print the poster for a card or frame, and forward the GPX to the runner. Routes that need a manual check arrive within 24 hours; allow at least two days before the occasion.
Will the dedication appear automatically on Strava?
The GPX carries the dedication as its route name. Display depends on the watch or app. The runner must record the outing to create the heart-shaped activity on Strava, then choose the activity title themselves.
Do they need a particular running watch?
They need a watch or phone app that can follow a GPX route. Garmin users can import it into Garmin Connect. Apple Watch needs a navigation app such as WorkOutDoors; third-party app charges are separate.
Do I need their old GPX file or Strava login?
No. You choose a starting address and a distance, and CityHeart creates a new route to run. You can add their first name without accessing their watch or Strava account.
Does the runner need a Strava account?
No. They need a watch or phone app that can follow a GPX route. Strava is optional: it is where many runners share the heart after recording the run.
What exactly is in the GPX and the poster?
The GPX is their heart as a GPS track, named after them and starting at the address you chose. The poster is a PNG of the heart with their name, the city and the distance, 1240 × 1754 pixels in A4 proportions, to print. Nothing is posted.
Is this a personalized running gift for beginners?
Yes, if they can follow a GPX route on a compatible watch or phone. Choose a distance close to their normal outings, or let them walk the heart. Targets are 3, 5, 7 or 10 km, approximately 1.9, 3.1, 4.3 or 6.2 miles; the preview shows the final distance.
Can I give it as a Christmas gift for a runner?
Yes. Give them the printable poster in a card and send them the GPX to run when they choose. Nothing is posted, so there is no postal cut-off; allow at least two days before Christmas only in case the route needs a manual check.
Can I get a last-minute running gift?
Preview the route first and check its delivery status. Routes that qualify for instant delivery arrive after payment, but a heart needing a manual check takes up to 24 hours. Do not rely on same-day delivery when the preview requires review.
